I don’t know if this mermaid really falls into the “Monster” category but it is a creature of myth and fantasy so I figured I would share it. I actually created it for as a t-shirt design for a group of ladies that goes to the beach each summer. They call them selves the BeBe’s. They requested a “busty mermaid drinking a tropical drink” and this is what I came up with.

This week I had a little help with my monster. One of my daughters wrote a story about a monster and drew the critter so I told her I would post it here. The title of her story is “The Moster (Monster).” I took her drawing, embellished it a bit and cleaned up her story’s spelling. Hope you all enjoy it.
The Monster
Once there was a mad and bad monster! His name was Herbert. He was a good monster to the monster family, but, not to the humans! Herbert scared those people’s pants off and I mean it most of the people had to wear underwear! The humans got very cold in the winter. Enough about that. Luckily there was a superHero! His name was Maxeman! He took out any monster anyway any place any time. Maxeman will always save the day! He took out his monster buster and shot that monster! The monster was killed! That day would never be forgot!
The end

This week, being Thanksgiving here in the U.S., I took a different spin on the monster. This is Fred. He’s your average everyday guy but he can put away a turkey like nobody’s business. To you and I he doesn’t seem like a monster, but to a turkey…

Have a Happy and safe Thanksgiving.

Decided for a different take on MonsterMonday.
After creating Frankenstein, the shrunken head and the devil images for MonsterMonday, I was wondering what they could be used for. I showed the shrunken head image to a friend and the made a comment about “creative juices.” That got me thinking about different names for it and I came up with Voodoo Juice. “Hmm,” I thought, “that would make a cool beer in a store.” I played around with it and came up with the Voodoo Juice label and then the light went on. Why not do Monster Brew’s labels and see what they look like? So I took the three I had done and added a pirate themed one and “BAM.”

I love it when one idea feeds another.
It’s been awhile since my last post. I’ve been busy with work projects with lot’s of parts. Having to make sure each item is correct and names are spelled correctly, all I could think was “devil’s in the details.” So… I made it the theme of my monster for today and did a devil. Thanks to Von Glitschka’s “Crumble. Crackle. Burn.” book for the background.

and all I got was a shrunken head. I decided to play with some voodoo this week and shrink a head for Monster Monday.

I went back in one of my sketch books and dug up this cool looking Robot (Overlord) Protector. Just a doodle I did one day. The arms will whip out and grab the fleeing masses to be brought back into the protection of the metallic ones and with laser beams out of their eyes they can (incinerate any who oppose them) protect us who need their watchful care.

I pieced this night mare together in Photoshop for a zine called HOWiezine. When I was a kid this is how I pictured a nightmare.

Last week I did a sketch of Frankenstein. This week I give you Franky in full color, or as my daughter calls him Franken-ogre.

Here’s my first contribution to MONSTER MONDAY (said in a monster truck announcer voice). A quick sketch of Frankenstein.

Happy Monday!!
