Fire Monster

He’s really quite curious as to why all the other kids run away from him.

Devil’s in the details

It’s been awhile since my last post. I’ve been busy with work projects with lot’s of parts. Having to make sure each item is correct and names are spelled correctly, all I could think was “devil’s in the details.” So… I made it the theme of my monster for today and did a devil. Thanks to Von Glitschka’s “Crumble. Crackle. Burn.” book for the background.

Pandora’s Box Monster

A little something something from Monster By Mail

I draw a lot of monsters during the week. Some are good. Some are not as good. Luckily, this is one of the good ones. The person who ordered this wanted a fairy or nymph coming out of the box. I decided to draw a zombie. This is watercolor, colored pencil, ink and prismacolors.

Monster Mash

Although it might look to the contrary, these monsters are having a ball! Swinging their antennae and jiggling their tentacles and horns and… such. Won’t you join ‘em?

Here’s my first post, all done in Photoshop CS3

Franky (Redux)

Last week I did a sketch of Frankenstein. This week I give you Franky in full color, or as my daughter calls him Franken-ogre.

Samurai Cat vs Corny

gouache

This was done as a birthday card for my brother, who lived in the midwest at the time. With acres and acres of corn filling the state, it’s a foregone conclusion that at least one ear (or more? …) would be mutated by cosmic rays and go on a rampage among the humans. Fortunately, the modern-day descendant of an ancient line of cat samurai is on hand to fight for justice.

Or something like that. Gouache on card stock, cut to shape.

Creature Feature

Very cool to have a new outlet for posting monster artwork. To get things started, I wanted to post some recent artwork of my all time favorite monster, The Creature from the Black Lagoon. This was created entirely in Photoshop CS3 using a Wacom Graphire tablet- No photo manip.
